Basketball Club “Akademija Anđa Jelavić” Šibenik is a local sports organization based in Šibenik, Croatia. The club was established with the aim of encouraging, developing and promoting basketball among children (aged 7 to 13) and youth, while fostering educational, moral and athletic values through sport.

The goals of the Basketball Academy Anđa Jelavić are achieved through the following activities: bringing together children and young people interested in playing basketball; promoting and improving basketball among young generations; combating all forms of discrimination in order to contribute to community development; promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities; and encouraging intercultural dialogue by raising awareness of the enrichment that comes from sharing values, traditions, and different ways of life.

The club organizes sports instruction and skill development through a structured training process, step by step – from beginners (basketball school), through mastering basic basketball knowledge, age-appropriate techniques and tactics, to participating in competitions. The club cooperates with other sports associations and related organizations that support its mission, both within and beyond the borders of Croatia.

It produces newsletters and training programs aligned with specific procedures, promotes social inclusion through basketball, encourages young female kinesiologists to become coaches in women’s basketball clubs and raises awareness of women’s basketball in Croatia. Their goal is to ensure equal access for girls to participate and play, with the aim of balancing the number of girls and boys involved in basketball.

The club focuses on developing coordination and teaching the fundamentals of basketball, so that young players gain a solid foundation for lifelong engagement in the sport. The training program is led by educated coaches who have competed at the highest level, including for the Croatian national senior team. The club’s president and head coach, Anđa Jelavić, represented Croatia at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Anđa Jelavić Academy is the co-leader of Work Package WP4: Development of a toolkit.
